Surgery of the Abdomen Abdominoplasty or tummy Tuck
Surgery of the abdomen (Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck), is a type of Plastic Surgery which removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen. At the same time, the stretched abdominal wall or muscle can be tightened to "cinch" loose tissue that has been over-expanded from pregnancy or significant weight loss. If the abdomen has a significant amount of fat excess, liposuction may be needed as a separate procedure. Length: 1 to 2 hours, or more. Time required to stay in the country: 12 days
Recovery:
- Back to work: 1 to 2 weeks.
- More strenuous activity: 2 to 4 weeks.
- Takes 6 months or more to fully recover from swelling and bruising.
Patient Status: Usually outpatient in the surgeon's office. However, liposuction of several areas may require a short hospital stay. Anesthesia: Local - General - Epidural.
