Liposuction - Body Contouring
Liposuction is used to improve body shape by removing fat deposits that are resistant to diet or exercise. This technique actually recontours the body so that a trimmer figure is revealed. Good candidates for liposuction are people that exercise regularly, eat foods low in total calories and fat, and have reasonable skin elasticity. Common locations for liposuction include chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, above breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles. Length of surgery: 2 to 3 hours or more. Time required to stay in the country: 12 days.
Recovery:
- Back to work: 1 to 2 weeks.
- More strenuous activity: 2 to 4 weeks.
- Takes 6 months or more to fully recover from swelling and bruising.
Patient status: Usually outpatient in the surgeon’s office. However, liposuction of several areas may require a short hospital stay. Anesthesia Local - General - Epidural.
